hmmmm... all i can say to all of this is that I am a very happy adult. I'm a successful adult. I have a good relationship and I'm physically fit. The "rules" and "regulations" you guys are complaining about don't even come close to how strict my parents were when I was young. I was always so upset because I was forced to be different from everyone else (it didn't seem like anyone else's parents cared at all what their kids did, i WANTED that!).

Here's the thing, I'm 33 now and i'm STILL different from everyone else! Being like everyone else sounds so appealing when you are young. To me, being like everyone else means being average. The average person is not successful, happy, loving their partners, OR their jobs. Almost all the people I knew that had parents that let them run wild have not had a happy adulthood: most are jobless, relationship-less, and very obese. I would argue that my parents worked hard to make me special and above the common individual. Childhood is so much shorter than the rest of your lives, try to remember that you all ARE children with adult opportunities, not the other way around. The word "sophomoric" actually means "wise fool"... no coincidence we call many of you folks sophomores! LOL

Be careful what you wish for! You say you want to be treated like adults: adults have very real problems and consequences. I say enjoy the freedom of being children with some adult-like responsibilities and try to remember how you feel today when it is your turn to raise your own children in the future.

Our biggest hope is that, when you are adults, you will look back and realize how special we tried to make the SWCTA for all of you. We're not the AVERAGE high school, being average is rarely awesome: we're an above-average high school full of above-average individuals and we need rules that will sculpt us all accordingly.

Great article, thanks!
