I am a 31 year old high school teacher that grew up during the dawn of recreational electronics and, I have to say, I’m impressed with these articles! Ms. Downs’ comments are accurate, but very frank and blunt.
When I was her age, I found myself a successful student, but I blame this on my parents. They were incredibly strict! I was allowed to watch one hour of T.V. a WEEK! I had to register the hour I intended to watch in advance as well! So, obviously, I hated this policy!
Now that I’m older, I enjoy rock climbing, skiing, dog sled driving, and I’ve worked as a dolphin trainer and an owl and hawk researcher! I have an awesome life and I believe it is because I never think about spending it in front of the “boob tube”, now that I’m older I thank my parents every day!
With that in mind, remember that self-discipline is not easy and its a journey/ process: for those of you that want to organize yourselves, I suggest making small, short goals and building upon them. Make a promise to yourself each week and keep it! YOU owe yourself the most and YOU have the biggest role in your own success! I LOVE the articles, Mr. Editor, keep em’ coming! Go Coyotes!
