Hi I’m Arielle, like the mermaid, but spelt different. I am a proud member of The Howl and spend most of my time, working on spreads and forgetting to spell check almost everything I write. When I’m not doing that, I’m probably watching my favorite movies or I’m at work. I’m so excited to see all the possibilities the yearbook has in store, and can’t wait for everyone to see it!
Hey, it’s Sami. I am a procrastinator, but I always get my stuff done. When I’m not doing yearbook, I’m probably sleeping … or stressing over all the work I still have to do, but not doing it. I’m excited to be in yearbook and be a part of something great.
Hi, I’m Mackenzie and I’m “that one really tall red head.” I enjoy being one with nature while listening to music that nobody ever knows. I am known for wearing sunglasses when it’s dark, pants that are too big, jackets when its hot and Birkenstocks, no matter the season. I am the most honest person you will ever meet – it sometimes scares people. And my theory on life is do something wild without fearing the results because whatever they are … it’ll be a cool story.
Hey, I’m Lauryn with a ‘y’ and I’m in the Dental Assistant program. I like turning off my caps lock for aesthetic, eating bean and cheese burritos and taking way too many AP classes. When I’m not in school stressing out about spread due dates, and homework, you can catch me working at TJ-Maxx for minimum wage. I’m excited to be a part of journalism this year and share the stories of the student body.
Hey, I’m Izabel and everyone spells my name wrong or calls me Izabella. I’m obsessed with dogs and I 100% believe I’m Batman. I stress out about literally everything and I exaggerate just about everything too. I also have a dark sense of humor. I have some good qualities, like I play the violin, viola and the cello. Most importantly, I’m finally five feet tall.
Hey! I’m Desiree, this is my second year in journalism, I hope to grow and improve significantly from last year. I have a bad habit of spending HOURS on youtube, especially when I’m supposed to be doing something important. I also have a weird obsession with unicorns because they inspire me to just be myself (no matter how weird I may be). My motto is if you’re going to be weird, be confident about it. My secret talent is constantly putting myself in awkward situations. I’m really just looking forward to leaving high school and getting to experience the stress and worries of being an “adult”.
Hey! I’m Andrada and all I do is play tennis. I barely have a social life and I’m not entirely sure why I decided to take journalism since I’m so busy, but I guess I realized that I like writing and taking pictures of people while they make memories. Besides that, I really enjoy traveling. This summer I went to Italy and Romania. Also, did I mention yet that I’m Romanian? ‘Cause I’m Romanian. In my spare time I like to pretend I have a huge social life by making plans with people who end up canceling on me haha. I hope that made you realize that I have no chill. Other than finding my chill this year, I hope to heighten my skills as a journalist.
Hi, I’m Aicha and I’m a sophomore. If I’m not working on a spread then you can find me dancing and singing (usually off-key). This is my first year working on the yearbook and my second year in journalism. I’m in the nursing program, although I have no idea what I want to pursue as a career. Other than singing terribly and dancing, I enjoy photography and reading.
Hi, I’m Jewel, I’m a junior in the hospitality program and this will be my second year on The Howl staff. My friends know me as the chill person in the group. I’m a pretty calm person to be around, so my friends use me as an outlet whenever they have a crisis. Out of C122, I’m usually hibernating, playing softball, watching dumb but entertaining YouTube videos, or attempting to potty train my four-month old corgi. When that doesn’t work out, I like to read books, but sleeping will always be my number one past time. I love being part of the staff and I hope to refine my skills as a journalist.
Hey there! I’m Kiara, and this is my second year on The Howl staff. Although I am more of a photographer than a writer, I hope to improve my writing skills enough to publish my first article this year. This is also my third year of being on the Desert Oasis Color Guard team, which is a great sport to participate in when I’m stressing about deadlines. If the weather is not in my favor, cat videos are the second best thing for de-stressing. I have learned so much just by being around such amazing people and I can’t wait to see what this year has to offer!
Hey, I’m Brooke and I’m a soda-holic, I just really love soda. When I’m not in school I’m usually watching TV primarily Bob’s Burgers but I also enjoy watching standup and crime shows on Netflix. I can jam out to any type of music as long as it’s not classical. Jewel tells me I look like Kurt Cobain, I’m still struggling to see the resemblance. I’m not that good at making goals so I guess mine would be to make it through the year.
My name is Kenneth Talusan, and I’m a really quiet person, even when I’m around my friends. I am a junior in the Dental Assisting program and this is my second year as a staff member of The Howl staff. I like to sleep a lot, so I’m tired most of the time during school. I like to play games like “Hearthstone” and “League of Legends” when I have free time. My family and I love to travel; last year we visited all of the states in the US (not including Alaska and Hawaii, but we went there before). My goal this year is to improve my writing, as well as designing spreads and modules.
Hey! My name is Zhen. I’m extremely outgoing, especially around my friends. Staying in journalism was actually a last minute decision at the end of my freshmen year, and boy am I glad I went with it! I’m a super nerdy Chinese boy who plays “League of Legends” in my freetime. I love going back to China whenever I have the opportunity; too bad it’s so expensive! I’m extremely sarcastic so please excuse me if you don’t understand my jokes, but please, I’d rather you not fake laugh. I’m always open to make new friends so please say “Hi” if you see me walking around! My goal? To put it simply, “Chill out on the procrastinating bro.”
Hey what’s up, I’m Russel. I’m 17. This year is my second year of being Editor-in-Chief for The Howl. I know what you’re thinking. How could I possibly go another year of being EIC? I ask myself that every night. I enjoy watching compilation videos of Vines online (R.I.P) and scooping ice cream on a daily basis. I have a real problem with procrastinating until the last minute, so in advance, I’m sorry Mr. LaPorte. If I describe myself in three words it would be: sarcastic, funny, emotional.
*Record Scratch* *Freeze Frame* You’re probably wondering how I ended up here. It all started when I joined journalism during my sophomore year. My name’s Kiana Nicole Tibule. I wanted to be part of a team that created our high school’s yearbook. When I’m not on Jostens, I’m making smoothies or spending my paycheck on food. When Khalid said, “We’re just young, dumb, and broke [high school kids],” I really felt that. All I’m trying to do is live a good life full of good vibes and live my youth out.
I am Justine Ho and I am in charge of the cash/moola. When I first joined jounalism freshmen year, it was actually a last minute choice because I did not get into Student Council and I chose this class instead. That last minute choice became my no regrets and singing to “Make a Man Out of You” in journalism for most of my years. Outside of Journalism, I tend to just watch Disney movies and squeal at cute things on my Twitter feed.
