Lifehacks for Going Green Lily Gurdison

If you are looking to make a difference in the world's environment, then going green may be the thing for you. By reducing water, electricity, and landfill waste, you are contributing to a better world for everyone. This page highlights some unique eco-friendly hacks that are sure to get you excited about going green.

Sharpening Scissors

I had never heard of this hack before trying it. Essentially, to sharpen scissors, you take a sheet of tin foil and fold it about six times. You then cut the foil (the more times, the better) and your scissors are sharp once again.

Rating: 9/10. This hack is simple and effective, although it takes a lot of force to cut through the foil.

Using Ice Cubes to Water Plants

This hack does not require much change to your succulent watering routine. Instead of pouring water into your plant's pot, place 2-4 ice cubes in your plants to keep them moist longer.

Rating: 6/10. After one hour in the sun, there actually wasn't much of a difference between regular watering and using ice cubes. The plant with the ice cubes, however, was a little bit cooler which may be more beneficial in the summer.

Throwing a Towel in the Dryer

This hack claims that it will cut the amount of time it takes your clothes to dry in half. When you put your wet clothes in the dryer, throw a dry towel in there as well. This will soak up water out of your clothes and save energy.

Rating: 10/10. This hack is extremely easy and will save you time and electricity in the long run.
