LifeHacks: School Lunch Edition By Shayna Migalang

Having trouble making food in the morning? Here are three school lunch hacks that may both save you time and make your food more delicious.

1. Frozen Sandwiches

If you tend to run out of time in the morning to make a fresh lunch, try freezing a sandwich overnight instead. Make a sandwich, place it in a freezer bag, and it'll be thawed in your lunch bag by the time you eat it at school.

Rating: 9/10. I was pretty skeptical about the concept of freezing a sandwich, but it worked extremely well with zero complaints from my friends who tasted it. However, I do question why you have to freeze the sandwich and not just refrigerate it overnight.

2. Elastic Band Apples

To execute this hack, cut up an apple around its core, creating wedges. Afterwards, put the pieces back together to form a whole apple again, then secure the shape with a rubber band.

Rating: 1/10. Not only was it difficult to put the apple slices back together and tie a rubber band around it, but it still resulted in brown apples after all my hard work. Maybe just eat an apple after school instead.

3. Sponge Ice Pack

Need to keep your food cold? Wet a sponge, place it inside a plastic bag, and store it in the freezer to create a chilly ice pack for your lunch box.

Rating: 5/10. The water had escaped the sponge by the time lunch rolled around. My juice box was still cold, but I don't know if it was because of the chilly weather. If I were to do this life hack again, I'd soak the sponge in a bowl of water for a long period of time.
