Counselor Appreciation Week held this week Counseling efforts recognized through Feb. 5

The American School Counselor Association is holding the annual National School Counseling Week from Feb. 1 to Feb. 5. During this event, school administration is encouraged to show their appreciation to school counselors through small gifts and acts of gratitude.

“We just do something little every day for our counselors to let them know how much we appreciate them,” Assistant Principal Mrs. Trish Taylor said. “Yesterday, I got them breakfast and today, we got them Starbucks. Each day’s gifts are a surprise.”

In addition to the gifts from administration, Student Council is also planning surprises.

“We absolutely adore the counselors; they do so much for the student body and we are so pumped to show them our appreciation,” junior Victoria Truong said.

Students are able to show their appreciation as well, either through the National School Counseling Week Photo Challenge, where students tag their photos with #NSCW16, or by giving thanks to their counselors.

“The counselors deserve the recognition because they work very hard in making sure that all the students are prepared for college and if they like their classes,” senior Max Mar said.
