Badminton players will compete for trophy in tournament Interested students must present an insurance waiver at the event

The fourth annual badminton tournament will take place on Feb. 23-24 after school in the gym from 2-4 p.m.

“I’m looking forward to the competition because I love badminton and I can’t wait to take home the trophy again,” senior Jayla Olson said.

Students who wish to compete are not required to be present at practice today or on Feb. 17; however, all participants must present a completed insurance waiver by Feb. 23.

“Depending on how many students decide to compete this year, I may have to do a single elimination,” Coach Anne Kalenowicz said. “Last year, we had a lot of kids show up so we had to do a double elimination.”

The tournament, which is open to all boys and girls, will require students to compete in pairs only. Four total winners—one team of boys and one team of girls—will receive a trophy for their athletic performance.

“I’m really excited for the competition because there’s a great demand for badminton at this school,” Kalenowicz said. “I can’t wait to see everyone play and have fun.”
