SWCTA’s Apple Distinguished School status has been renewed for the third consecutive time, extending until 2017.
“A lot of people mistake the award as having a lot of Apple products, but the key part of getting the award is how we incorporate that technology,” Community Partnership Coordinator Craig Statucki said.
To be recognized for this award, the school must meet the criteria for innovation, leadership and educational excellence.
“It’s a very select group, I have not seen the totals for this year, but the last time we were renewed there were 52 schools nationwide,” Statucki said.
One of the reasons for awarding the designation for SWCTA was due to the integration of the 1:1 iPad and “Bring Your Own Device” Programs.
“The applications that are being used for Web Design, the latest and greatest comes out from Mac,” senior Brandon Ly said.
