Class of 2017 to host “A Royal Knight” themed prom Event will take place on May 14

The Class of 2017 is hosting the “A Royal Knight” themed prom at the Emerald at Queensridge from 7-10 p.m. on May 14.

“We [Class of 2017] wanted a special theme that would be memorable and we narrowed it down to ‘A Royal Knight’,” Class of 2017 President Demitri Bannoura said. “The theme goes great with our motto, ‘The Kings and Queens of 2017.'”

Students must present their student identification card in order to purchase tickets to the event. Outside participants must be under 21 years of age and complete a guest pass, which are available in room D105 and the library.

“The venue itself is very nice and fits the theme perfectly,” Class of 2017 adviser Veronica Whiton said. “We will also be finalizing the prom decorations next week.”

A fire sale for tickets will take place from May 2-3 and students who purchase the $55 ticket will be automatically entered into an opportunity drawing for various gifts and other items. The ticket price will then increase to $60 for the week of May 4-13. Tickets will be on sale for $70 at the door.

“The grand prize for the [opportunity drawing] is going to be a chance to win a free ticket to the dance,” Bannoura said. “It’s a great deal because the winning student can then get their money refunded.”

Nominations for prom court will take place during the week of May 2-6 for $1 in the lunch room. The elected court will be decided through online voting and royalty will be crowned on the night of the event.

“As a senior, prom is going to be bittersweet for me,” senior Kayla Dalope said. “I know it will be a memorable night with my closest friends.”

The dance will include a photo booth, chocolate fountain and more. All participants are required to present their receipt for the sale of their ticket in order to enter the dance.

“I’m so excited to see the end result,” student council member Victoria Troung said. “We’ve been planning this for so long and we’ve put in a lot of thought and hard work.”
