The Coyote Cheerleaders will be cheering in the cafeteria for their official debut performance on school grounds at 6 p.m. tonight.
“I think its cool because it gives this school a sense of normality like regular public high schools,” junior Felicia Richardson said.
This is the first year that there has been an official cheerleading club on campus. They will also be recruiting at the upcoming Recruitment Open House to increase membership for upcoming competitions.
“Its a little scary to be part of the first cheer team at this school because it feels like we have high expectations from the school to perform well,” sophomore Mya Constantino said.
The cheerleaders recently performed on Dec. 22 at Sam Boyd stadium for the Maaco Bowl. The squad performed a routine with Coronado and Desert Oasis to a mix of songs during the halftime show at the football game.
“I trained my team really hard and I push them to the limit at practice so I definitely think that all the practice will be worth it,” senior Regan Gunter said.
