Fashion Design program hosts Pop Up Shop in ‘E’ Building $800 dollars were raised after two day event

To assist students purchasing appropriate attire for prom, the Fashion Design program hosted a pop up shop from April 27- 28 in the ‘E’ Building, raising approximately $800.

“It’s a great skill for the fashion students to learn how to run a retail store, how to merchandise, how to set the racks, and how to price garments,” Fashion Design instructor Mrs. Sheila Petrosky said.

In addition to providing formal attire from a bridal and tuxedo shop, the fashion program offered brand new clothes from American Apparel.

  • Jackets: $20
  • Pants: $10
  • Jacket and matching pant set: $25
  • Vests, Ties, Tux Shirts: $1
  • Brand New American Apparel tanks: $3
  • Brand New American Apparel Polo Dresses: $5
  • Brand New Fruit of the Loom T shirts: $3
  • Brand New Polo Shirts: $3
  • Brand New Tote bags: $2

“We got some items donated from a bridal and tuxedo shop that was going out of business, so they donated all their racks of tuxedos,” Petrosky said. “We thought what a great thing for the juniors and seniors going to prom. They can buy a tuxedo for $20 or $30 dollars versus renting for a $150.”

Proceeds raised from the event will go towards funding future projects and activities for the Fashion Design program.

“I bought a white tuxedo shirt and some of the American Apparel clothes they had,” senior Ivanrey Barlongo said. “Thanks to the Fashion Program I was able to get my entire outfit together without having to stress out right before prom.”
