The Annual Homecoming Football Game was postponed due to weather conditions and has been rescheduled for Oct. 23.

“In the interest of the safety of the students, we did not want them playing in a wet field, nor did we want students standing in the rain to watch a game. We thought it was better to postpone it and wait for the weather to clear up,” Dean Sherrae Nelson said.

The modified bell schedule for Oct. 23 will be posted on the school’s website.

“We chose Friday for next week because we’re doing proficiency testing for non-proficient seniors and adult students that need to come back Monday through Thursday and we wanted to make sure that everyone could participate,” Nelson said.

An assembly was held in the gym in place of the game. During this time, the Homecoming Court relay race, teacher dance-off and a performance from the cheerleaders took place.

“I think my favorite part was when Mr. Ball got on the floor and Mr. Thomas helped him out by spinning him! I hope we get to dance more in the next assemblies due to the amount of excitement the students had,” senior Kiana Tangonan said.

Today’s spirit day was ‘PAnDA’ where students in Professional Academy wore black and those in Design Academy wore white.

“I loved looking around the school and being able to see the distinction between the two academies and the pride among the students,” junior Samrawit Misiker said.

Along with spirit day, StuCo hosted a ‘balloon partner’ game during lunch. Seniors Skyler Visser, Devun Mosses, Cailin Lopez and Ruffa Fortin won.

“Skyler and I had to keep the balloon in the air without using our hands, it was pretty simple until it got really close to the floor which meant we had to start using our feet. Teamwork makes the dream work, especially when teaming up with one of your bros,” Mosses said.
