HOSA superlatives, inductions planned for annual banquetProps will be provided for photo booth
After getting different icons laminated, junior Rosalia Sedano cuts them out. Board members wanted to provide an option to have props for the photo booth.
HOSA will hold their annual banquet in the ballroom to commemorate the club’s achievements from throughout the year on May 19 at 5:00-7:30 p.m., . Invitations can be picked up outside of room H123, and sign-ups are available online until May 15.
“This HOSA banquet is a way to say thank you to the members,” HOSA Vice President Rosalia Sedano said. “This would not be possible without the dedicated members and the guidance of Mrs. Smith.”
Along with an award for the “Member of the Year,” superlatives will be given out to various members based on their work in the club. Board members are planning surprises for the members.
“I’ve been in HOSA for three years so far and will continue to attend it until my final year of high school,” junior Aymen Shafique said. “The club itself consists of many opportunities for a student aspiring to be in the medical field to see what it’s like working in the field.”
At this time, an induction will also be held for new board members. Each new board member will receive a pin while the former board members will receive a plaque for their service.
“I feel really honored that this year’s members had chosen me to be an officer for next year,” sophomore Alexsia Varela said. “It had been something that I had wanted to do since the beginning of my freshman year. HOSA is a club that takes care of its community and its members and I’m glad to be a part of this amazing club.”
In addition, there will be music, a photo booth and food catered by Olive Garden. Professional attire is expected; jeans and T-shirts are prohibited.
“I feel that without HOSA, I wouldn’t have found the true meaning of what it’s like to be a medical professional and how your work in the community can positively impact many people while keeping you aware of medical issues that are out there today,” Shafique said.
