LV Chamber to host Elevate Career Fair Event will take place on April 23

The Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Elevate Career Fair on April 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Government Center for high school students.

“Now that I’m a senior and I’m graduating soon, I really think that an event like this would be an advantage for me,” senior Sara Kalaoram said. “I think I might decide to go.”

The fair will provide opportunities for students to meet employers, including One Nevada Credit Union, Hakkasan Group, City of Las Vegas, Toyota of Las Vegas and more, looking to hire individuals for a part-time or full-time job.

“It can be difficult getting hired for the first time,” junior Samrawit Misiker said. “Having a fair that holds a lot of potential employers in one place and lets students meet them face to face will make the process much easier.

Registration for the event is now open online and is only available to current high school students. Registration is free; however, students must present a student identification card.

“I think events like these are opportunity for us, as students, to grow,” junior Jules Dizon said.

The fair will offer various prizes, raffles, food and parent seminars, as well as help with resume writing, mock interviews and dressing professionally. Students only need to bring a resume if they already have one.

“Even though I already have a job, I think if I went I’d be able to network and find something better,” senior Amanuel Ghebremicael said.
