Mandatory Grad Night meeting set for Feb. 5 Information regarding regulations and payments to be provided

To set guidelines and give information regarding the Senior Grad Night event, Senior Adviser Mrs. Laura Penrod will be hosting a mandatory meeting in the cafeteria for all prospective Grad Night attendees on Feb. 5 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“We will be talking about all of the Disney rules and requirements and any school rules and requirements for Grad Night, such as grade checks, fines, fees, RPCs, suspensions, as well as how much deposits will cost,” Penrod said. “We need to make sure that they [seniors] are clear on the guidelines for Disney and school, as well as the requirements for making a down payment.”

Payment requirements will be covered during the meeting, as well as rules and regulations that must be adhered to by attendees. Students whose grade checks report failing grades during trip preparation will be prohibited from attending.

“I’m very excited to go on the trip, but I just hope spots aren’t occupied too quickly,” senior Brandon Ly said. “I don’t have any outstanding fines, behavioral problems, or grade issues, so I should hopefully be able to go without much strife.”

Approximately 150 people are expected to be in attendance, which currently fills the trip’s maximum capacity.

“Right now, we’re looking at 3 busses, but we’re considering getting a fourth bus if more people want to participate. The problem is cost; I don’t want to increase the cost to students, but if we got a fourth bus, we would probably have to,” Penrod said.

Grad Night will take place on May 21. It will include a trip to Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. and will cost $125 (if the number of busses remains unchanged). The fee covers transportation expenses, as well as an all-day park hopper pass for each student.

“I can’t wait to celebrate my senior year this way,” senior Nicole Overman said. “I think it’s going to be an extremely fun day that I’ll remember for a long time.”
