National Honor Society celebrates holiday season

SWCTA’s 2011-2012 Southwest Howl yearbook is almost sold out, more will be ordered only there is demand.

Southwest Career and Technical Academy’s National Honor Society members officially began their Secret Santa gift exchange for the upcoming holiday season on Nov. 30, 2011. NHS members who wanted to participate in this event picked the names of whom they will give a gift.

“This Christmas I asked for a lot of things, but I absolutely want a Starbucks Tumbler or a Banana Republic gift card,” states senior Patrick Alejaga.

Secret Santa participants were required to complete a form in order for their “Santa” to know more about the person that will receive a present from them. Each member had to provide information such as their favorite food, store, colors, and any hobbies or interests. Santas have a maximum spending limit of $20 on one gift.

“I’m excited to give my Secret Santa gift to the person I picked out. I know exactly what to get them, and I can’t wait to see the joyful and surprised look on every one’s faces at the holiday party at Cheeburger Cheeburger,” shares Jenny Ha, junior.

NHS members that participated in the gift exchange will be delivering their gifts at the NHS social after school on Dec. 7, 2011, at Cheeburger Cheeburger. 15% of the profit made by students from Southwest Career and Technical Academy will be donated to the club.
