The Spring PBL showcase winners were announced on Apr. 8 to the winning program area teachers via email. Principal Mrs. Felicia Nemcek judged the showcase applicant videos that represented their Spring PBL.
“We received a lot of great entries and it was difficult to choose, but the winners completely demonstrated what we wanted the showcase to be about,” Nemcek said.
A winner from each academy, per grade level was awarded except seniors since they had a capstone instead of a Spring PBL. The winners are:
9th Grade DA – Interior Design – Kailey Walker, Anna Trasatti, & Gabrielle Fernandez
9th Grade PA – Culinary/Hospitality – Michael Medeiros, Kenneth Wong, Christian Tenorio, Izeah Guiao
10th Grade DA – Web Design- Janay Hagans, Mikey Shizuru, Troy Sirat, Allen Downs
“I’m so excited that we won! We worked hard to make sure we did the best we could to win and we did,” junior Cassie Daniels said.
Not every student in each winning class received a free admission ticket to the Knott’s Berry Farm field trip on Apr. 20. The only students that were given the ticket were the ones that paid the $10 deposit and filled out the necessary paperwork prior to the showcase contest.
“Respiratory students worked really hard to make sure we would win. There was a lot of outside work time involved in making our video, but it was worth it,” junior Casandra Carrasco said.
