Tryouts for cheer team to be held for the 2016-2017 school yearAuditions located in the gym from May 16-20
The Coyote Cheer Team is hosting tryouts for the 2016-2017 team from May 16 to 20 in the gym.
“My favorite memory from this cheer season would be cheer camp at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA),” Cheer Captain Nastassia Bullock said. “It was an amazing experience and I was glad to be able to captain and watch everyone grow throughout the year.”
“The goal for next year’s team is to be more cooperative and put more effort into our team,” cheer member Rebecca Chang said. “We are looking for students that come to tryouts with the mindset of trying their hardest and showing teamwork qualities.”
Students interested in trying out must complete a grade check, have no dean’s referrals and have no failing grades.
“I’ve had many memorable moments with the team, but one of my favorite moments was at our second competition because we were all proud of our performance and how well we did,” cheer member Jessenia Montenegro said. “Everyone was so energetic and happy that day.”
An informational meeting was held on May 6 at 6 pm. The events and activities of the 2016-2017 school year were also discussed.
“The Coyote Olympics assembly was my favorite performance because we hit every stunt perfectly and we showed how much we have worked throughout the school year,” Samantha Ewing said. “It made me feel super proud of my team and the fact that the whole school was cheering for us made us feel great.”
Those who make the team will attend a cheer camp at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City in June.
“My goal for next year’s team is for them to have fun, compete, do well and represent the school in a nice way,” Cheer Coach Cindi Chang said.
