Isabelle Del Rosario

Hey, I’m Isabelle, a senior who’s just trying to finish high school. It’s my second year in Journalism and I’m in the Respiratory Therapy program. I’m all about creating- whether I’m out here painting on everything that I can turn into a canvas or whether I’m just making more problems from myself. I went pescatarian for six months and then I accidentally ate a chicken nugget and I’ve never been the same since. Like Gucci Mane’s said, “If you ain’t got no sauce then ya lost…but you can also get lost in the sauce.” I really feel that. I’m just going through the motions. So moving “Foreword”, I just wanna see “Where This Flower Blooms” because “Sometimes…” “Boredom” gets the best of me and “I Ain’t Got Time!” to do much except, “Enjoy Right Now, Today.”

Shareen Basyari

Hi, I’m Shareen, a junior in the Web Design program. It has taken three graphic design and two web teachers, a tragic ‘C’ in Spanish, and loads of pressure to reach this far in high school. Ironically, despite being a coder, I actually want to pursue a career in the medical field, and not just because my grandma expects me to perform surgeries for a living. You can often find me either watching reruns of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” with my cat or tripping over my own two feet as I learn K-pop dances. While most people see me as quiet and reserved, my writing says the opposite; it’s loud and obnoxious, but also honest.

Kyle Bayudan

My name is Kyle Bayudan and I am in the Interior Design program. I’m a skater, hypebeast and whatever else you think/want me to be. I like taking long walks out on the open road and having late night conversations with people. I often listen to chill trendy music. I also aspire to be an Adidas ambassador.

Noel Sarte-Saad

I’m Noel and a sophomore in the Interior Design Program. I am truly open to anything that includes being creative. I taught myself how to work with watercolor and it is now all I really do in my free time. Right now I’m working on sewing and trying my best to learn how styling and making clothes work. I love being around my friends – I am constantly with them, whether it’s going out on our weekly Goodwill trips or just watching Netflix.

Charli Gisi

My name is Charli Gisi amd I am a sophomore in the Dental Assisting program. I enjoy dying my hair different colors. I have dyed my hair blue, deep purple, dark red, a mix of blue and purple and other colors. I also love music; I enjoy singing and dancing, even though I may not be the best at either one. I dance whenever and wherever: the grocery store, the mall, school, but mainly at home. I love horror movies – my favorites being Scream, any of the Final Destinations and Urban Legend.

Cosette Zielinski

Hi, my name is Cosette and I am in the Respiratory Therapy program. In my spare time, I enjoy the leisure of writing, reading and photography. I fantasize over the idea of traveling the world and experiencing the cultural differences numerous places have to offer. Humor is something I use to get through the difficult situations I find myself in, although I may not be considered the funniest person. My personal passion for equality and political justice runs deep in my veins, and I am not afraid to speak my opinion. In the end, I am someone with strong moral beliefs and values that I hope stick with me throughout high school.

Alyx Beeten

Hi my name is Alyx and I’m a sophomore in Interior Design. I enjoy writing opinion and feature stories. This year I’m hoping to improve my writing skills. My favorite thing to do in my down time is to collect sneakers. I have about 14 pairs and counting.

Eriyale Williams

I’m Eriyale and I enjoy writing and making music. I have found writing to be a true passion; whether I am writing a song or an article, I always feel free to say how I feel. Making music is a fun hobby; I have been performing since 2015. In the future, I plan to explore the Earth and learn about different cultures and political topics and share what I learn with the rest of the world.

Nathan Willey

Hi, my name is Nathan amd I’m a junior in the Fashion Design program. I’m normally in my room doing homework and wallowing in self-doubt. But, when I’m not doing that, I enjoy spending money on things I don’t need and doing my makeup when I have nowhere to go.

Grinesa Bajrami

Hey, I’m Grinesa and I am a sophomore in the Engineering program. I enjoy writing all types of stories, whether they be opinions, reviews, or features. I have found writing to be one of my passions. I am the basic “theatre kid,” meaning I am completely obsessed with musical theatre and Broadway. I tend to burst into show tunes or I may have an entire musical going on in my head; so if I’m not listening to what you’re saying, that’s probably the reason why.

Sofia Islam

Hi there! My name is Sofia and I am the co-Editor-in-Chief. I wish I could say that I had a special hobby or talent, but I’m still trying to figure out what it is. Other than that, I do almost everything that a basic teenager would do in their free time. I like to hang out with my family and friends, go out once in awhile, try different activities and do things that are way out of my comfort zone. If I could make a six-word memoir about myself, it would be “Always laughing at the wrong time.” It’s true though. Being a part of journalism has taught me discipline in my work ethic, and I’m thankful for being a part of a class that helps me take away stress from school (besides the journalism deadlines). Writing has always been a way to express my feelings when I can’t say them. I’ve never thought that I would be in a class that truly helped me become the writer I aspire to be, and hopefully, it could be the talent that I was looking for.

Julia Cox

Hello, my name is Julia Cox and I am a senior in the Nursing program. One of my passions, outside of journalism of course, is soccer. I have found that soccer is a great stress reliever especially when I am constantly overwhelmed about journalism deadlines. I also love to listen to music and spend time with my family. During my senior year, I hope to meet new people and prepare myself for the life I have ahead of me.

Cassie Valdez

Not too sure how I ended up as co-Editor-in-Chief, but look at me now. Here are some fun facts: when procrastinating, I like to play cartoon theme songs on instruments I’m barely fluent in. I have an unhealthy relationship with my ego and all the AP classes I have decided to take. One of the defining moments of my journalism career was when Mr. LaPorte called ketchup spicy. Even though I wear black scrubs ever other day, the medical field is the least of my interests. I don’t know what else to say, but for further questions, please refer to some of my columns.

Well, well, well, I’m a senior now. How did I end up here? Even I don’t know! But I’m proud to be able to survive four years of journalism and four years worth of fun I’m about to have. There isn’t much else for me to let you guys know about me, I’ve practically given my entire life story on the Southwest Shadow. But here’s a fun fact for the few of you that have taken the time to read this—I spent $2,000 on just clothes this summer.

Jackie Romo

Hello, my name is Jackie and I’m a senior in the Nursing program. I spend most of my time watching shows on Netflix and looking at photos of cute dogs. If you’ve ever spoken to me you’d know that I’m super awkward but I love meeting new people and making new friends. One of the reasons why I became a feature writer is because I love storytelling. Profiles are my favorite articles to write because I love getting to know a person and what they’re passionate about. I get to string a bunch of words together to sum up their passion; it’s both difficult and amazing. I can’t wait for the memories that will be made in my final year as a journalism student.

Adriana Cayetano

Hi, my name is Adriana Cayetano and due to it being my last year at Southwest, I want to spend this year teaching my fellow peers everything I have learned in this class. I have strong opinions that can be heard through my writing. I am glad that my loud opinions are able to be heard on a platform such as the Southwest Shadow. When my time is not consumed with work or journalism I tend to spend my days watching scary movies and trying to make jokes out of them.

Maggie Shepard

Hello, my name is Maggie but my friends call me “fake vegan” because I am a pescatarian. But I probably don’t know you so… refrain from getting my name mixed up with a fake vegan please. I am a senior in the Dental program and a third year returner to journalism. This will be my second year writing news stories and reviews for the Southwest Shadow! I joined because I enjoyed writing in my free time; luckily I still like it. I am also a four-year varsity softball player for Desert Oasis and I have been playing since I was 8. I am a second baseman and a slap hitter, which I love! I’m excited to see what my last year brings!
