Psychology Club, 1st and 3rd Wednesdays
Adviser: Ben LaCombe
Room: H211
Having already had their first meeting of the second semester, Psychology Club plans to teach their members new concepts.
“We’re going to have some activities based on conditioning,” President Achilles Caranto said. “Conditioning in psychology is the concept of realizing patterns. For example, if I were to give a dog a treat every time I rang a bell, it would eventually become conditioned to the concept that every time the bell rang, it would receive a treat.”
They intend for members to understand the concept through physical interaction.
“We want to do activities where members will be able to get hands-on experience,” Caranto said. “This is more so something that is better visually seen rather than explained, so I hope the members get to learn more about conditioning.”
Polynesian Club, 2nd and 4th Wednesdays
Adviser: Rachel Guichard
Room: C101
The club hopes to expand during this semester by creating more opportunities for members to perform.
“We would like to introduce more dance classes to our members,” President Ghiada Ferraer said. “We are hoping that it will also get more people interested in joining the club.”
In preparation for potential events and plans, the club prepares ideas.
“We are aware that Coyote Olympics and Coyote Coachella will be coming up in a few months and we are hoping to perform at both of those events in the future,” Ferraer said. “We have also been asked by someone from Nevada State University if we would like to perform at their school, but as of now the plans aren’t definite.”
SHFAA, 1st and 3rd Thursdays
Adviser: Jessica Kelly
Room: H207
Shelter, Homeless and Foster Animal Advocates (SHFAA) will be discussing plans regarding the money they raised from Winter Fest.
“We’re going to take a vote on which animal foundation to donate to,” Vice President Tyrah Lamay said. “We made $78 from Winter Fest so we wanted to have all the members involved in deciding who we want to give our money to.”
The club hopes to have more hands-on involvement in the community.
“Our president wants to have the members go on a field trip sometime,” Lamay said. “Maybe on the weekend we could go to an animal shelter to see how they take care of the animals and see what they do.”
