“If I could live for 400 years, I probably wouldn’t change today, because I have a few hundred more years left, but I’d definitely turn into a philosopher I think,” Daniela Gonzalez (‘25) said. “I love looking for the explanation of life and with the extension I feel like you can find answers, or at least try to find answers to a lot of unsolved problems because I think time is one of the most devastating problems. So with those limitations not being there anymore, and with me being able to live for 300 more years, I think I could become a genius. More or less, I like morals and ethics, so I kind of deprive ideologies from philosophy to guide my everyday life. I feel like with more years added I could use these theories to figure out my place and how to guide other people to find their place.”

Over quarantine, I constantly listened to Mitski, and she quickly became my favorite artist forever.”

“The worst movie of all time has to be Pinocchio,” Jet Zohar (‘27) said. “It’s completely unfunny, poorly written, and has a terrible plot. On top of that, it’s oddly creepy and more messed up than the Terrifier films.”

“I love to see some of my old friends,” Xavier Fernandez (‘27) said. “I’m happy to see that our friendships have lasted so long. I had a really fun time this weekend meeting them again at a park, and had a lot of fun hanging out like we used to.”

“The thing that made me interested in baking was my Grandma.” Brayden Sachs (‘26) said. “So I’ve carried that on with me into my current life. I like making cookies with and for her, and crafting pastries and desserts.”

“I have a big struggle with heights,” Aaden Espinoza (‘27) said. “From high up everything seems so much lower and I always feel like I’m going to fall off. I had to conquer that when I went rock climbing for the first time in my life, I was with my father and I was up high and I was scared I was going to fall, but my father reassured me that I was going to be okay and I was able to conquer that fear.”

“If I could be an animal, I would be a cat because they’re so cute and lazy,” Sophia Ramirez (‘26) said. “I love when cats are so silly and sleepy.”

“I really want to travel to Vietnam because that is where I was born and I would love to meet my family again,” Ryan Duong (‘25) said. “The food and hearing others’ stories brings me back memories that no one in America would have ever experience and I think that it would be really cool to relive that. When I was a little kid, I remember the noises and the chicken that would always go BOK BOK in the morning and if I have the chance, I would love to hear that again.”

“My favorite thing about Southwest is the people and the programs,” Plas Borner (‘26) said. “I’m in Multimedia, but now that I am a junior, I get offered the option to do 2D Animation, which is something I would want to do in my adult career. I want to be an animator so I can own an animation studio.”

“I’d say my favorite hobby is listening to music,” Jarred Maverick Garcia (‘27) said. “It always helps me study and having that calm music in the background to help me focus, especially R&B songs. I think it’s really cool to listen to a music artist express their feelings through songs and I’d sometimes even relate to them.”

“If I could live in any country in the world besides the United States, I would choose Switzerland,” Feruth Yemane (‘26) said. “Over the summer, I met a family friend that is from Switzerland and I learned that they’re one of the happiest countries in the world. She told me how it’s very clean there and their schooling system is easy to understand so she actually feels like she gets an effective education. Lots of people from my ethnicity also live there as well so I feel like I would be happy if I were to live there and overall it would open my eyes to a new experience.”

“I’ve always wanted to be either a diplomat or a lawyer,” Gurnoor Gill (‘26) said. “I want to bring change to the world and be a person who helps out the disaster that is politics right now. I also want to be the first Indian-American woman to do so.”

“My motivation in life is my parents,” Danniel James Madamba (‘27) said. “My parents have sacrificed so much just so I can become successful in every way possible. One way is that they put their entire savings into my college fund since I will be the first person in my family to attend college.”
