Parm, a well-known name in Italian-American cuisine, originally made its mark in New York City’s Little Italy in 2011. Founded by Michelin-Star chefs Mario Carbone and Rich Torrisi alongside restaurateur Jeff Zalaznick, Parm has become celebrated for its authentic and comforting dishes. The Las Vegas location now brings this iconic dining experience to the city.
Locating this small restaurant proved to be a challenge. Positioned on the outskirts of the Las Vegas Strip, I spent nearly twenty minutes trying to navigate through unfamiliar streets to find this eatery. The effort to locate it was exhausting, and by the time I got there, I was simply relieved to have found it.
Once I finally arrived at the restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised by the environment. The interior was clean and well-organized, with staff actively maintaining the area by cleaning tables and sweeping. Warm lighting and retro decor created a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, and the casual, laid-back vibe felt true to the Italian-American roots of New York City’s Little Italy. The lively mood, characterized by frequent laughter and animated conversations, gave Parm the feel of a friendly hangout spot, making it an ideal place for friends and family. This vibrant setting made the dining experience more enjoyable and helped offset the frustration of the long search.
I scanned through the menu to find something that looked appetizing, and the chicken parm sandwich instantly caught my attention. I also ordered the classic spaghetti and meatballs, expecting great things, along with pizza knots as an appetizer.
First to arrive was the spaghetti and meatballs. The dish featured tender meatballs enveloped in a well-balanced, tangy-sweet sauce. The spaghetti was cooked to the perfect texture, creating a satisfying meal that aligns with Parm’s reputation for comfort and quality. However, despite the good seasoning and flavorful sauce, the portion size felt lacking for $19. The relatively small amount of food left me feeling that the dish was not quite worth the price. Although the flavors were enjoyable, the amount of food was disappointing.
In contrast, the chicken parm sandwich, priced at $18, presented a somewhat mixed experience. The sandwich features crispy, flavorful chicken that is a highlight, complemented by stringy, warm cheese and delicious marinara sauce. The combination of these elements creates a satisfying taste. However, the bread, though nicely seasoned, is too soft and makes the sandwich fall apart, detracting from the overall enjoyment. While the sandwich is on the pricier side, the flavors were enjoyable enough that the cost felt justifiable. Nevertheless, a slightly firmer, more toasted bread would have improved the overall experience.
The Pizza Knot, priced at $10, unfortunately missed the mark. It was excessively oily, which not only masked the other flavors, but also left a greasy aftertaste. The presentation was somewhat messy, further detracting from the experience. Even though the pizza came with a nicely seasoned marinara sauce on the side, the oiliness was overwhelming. Each bite resulted in oil dripping from my hands, overshadowing the otherwise good flavor. This dish could benefit from refinement, particularly in balancing the oil and improving the presentation of simpler items and appetizers.
While the individual dishes at Parm had their ups and downs, the total cost of $47 felt reasonable for a meal shared with someone else. The flavors were enjoyable, and the lively, welcoming atmosphere added a nostalgic charm to the experience. It felt like a pleasant place to unwind with friends or family, even if not every dish hit the mark. The overall visit was a reminder of the simple pleasures of dining out and making the most of the moment. Given the overall experience, I would consider returning in the future to explore more of their menu.
