This article is going to be a little different. It is not one of my very long and drawn out diatribes where I am upset and throw my thoughts on a Word document, nor is it one of my “relationship advice” pieces that no one really cares about. Instead, this is an article explaining my love for writing. Boring? Maybe. Interesting for you? Probably not. So for those of you who want to continue reading this article, be prepared, this is going to be a little messy.
Words; something that everyone uses in life without noticing how powerful they can be, how influential they can be, or even how devastating and scary they can be. Depending on the choice of diction by the writer, these words can either fuel your way to happiness, or have you falling from your pedestal in a flash.
Imagine, you are writing an article for an online newspaper called, I don’t know, let us say the Southwest Shadow. One wrong word in the article or wrong phrase can have your hard work rejected. But who am I to talk? It’s not like I have been through this or anything (Thanks Mr. LaPorte).

But in all seriousness, that is the reason why I love writing. The influence that a single word can have on a situation gives a person so much power. The power to send out images, the power to travel all over the world, and even the power to impact someone’s emotions are all available with the use of words.
The vast amount of options that are contained in a simple dictionary gives me the ability to use a wide variety of words as well. Instead of speaking like a barbarian or using slang, I can choose to sound sophisticated and professional. Or I can even choose to sound comedic and enjoyable. The options are endless.
And the best part about words and writing you might ask? The dictionary is ever expanding. As time goes on and our lives come closer to an end, the ability to learn new words continues to never have an ending point. Anything or anyone with the ability to keep up with the times and new trends has got to be pretty cool, right?
I could go on and on about how much I love writing, about how I will use it every day for the rest of my life, or even how I will use writing to help me achieve my goals in the future. But, I’ll save you the trouble and boredom of reading through that. Some of you might think of this as a pointless column with no real reason, but I guess it’s just one of those things I had to write about. Have a good day!
