Black Student Union, C-200, Thursdays at 1:45 p.m.
In preparation for the Historical Black College presentation being held in the cafeteria on Tuesday, Feb. 12, members are planning out activities to have during the event.
“All of our staff members are getting ready for the Kentucky State University president to come to the school,” junior Ruth Daniels said. “I want the members of my group to get to know what options that are available to them.”
To follow up after the event, there will be a conference on Friday, March 1 to collaborate with all of the Black Student Union clubs in Clark County School District.
“Having all the [Black Student Union] clubs in the county come together, will definitely show me areas to work on inside of the club,” Daniels said. “We are also going to talk about what we have been doing currently.”
DECA, library, Tuesdays at 2 p.m.
Getting ready for state competition on Sunday at the Rio Hotel, DECA members are putting finishing touches on their presentations.
“I’m excited to go to state and see what will happen,” DECA adviser Ms. Catherine Viggato said. “Students have been practicing what they are going to say on the projects they are presenting to the judges.”
Participants have to present ideas about convention setups and fundraisers to judges and go against competitors from other schools.
“I’m most looking forward to competing and improving my score from the last competition since this is my last year,” senior Sammi Xu said. “Getting to know and meet new people is the best part about going to state.”
Lip Sync Battle on Feb. 15th
As the Lip Sync Battle comes close, clubs have been learning lyrics and perfecting their choreography.
“Since we are the previous winners, I feel pretty confident that we are going to win,” Drama Club adviser Vincent Thur said. “Drama Club has been practicing for about three weeks and I know that we are prepared.”
Admission to the event is $2. All of the money will go to Journalism’s next trip to Anaheim in April.
“The performance that I am looking forward to is Key Club,” sophomore Myren Quicho said. “I’m in that club and I want to support my friends and see what the dance moves are going to be.”
