"Yeah, I was following the elections really closely," junior KJ Palacios said. "With the results, I think we failed our own citizens. I can't believe so many people acknowledge the person that Trump is and still voted for him regardless. He's pretty much against me as a person, and it affects most of my friends. We're immigrants, we're part of the LGBTQ+ community. I think our near future is going to be terrible."

Painting their pumpkins during FCCLA’s annual pumpkin painting meeting, juniors Aki Javier and Rizzael Maniego work alongside each other. The members were able to choose their own designs when decorating their pumpkins. “I wanted to win the best pumpkin [award],” Maniego said. “I tried painting Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh and I feel that it turned out pretty good despite the short amount of time we were given.”

Trunk or Treat Returns... For a Second Time!
Demonstrating discipline and elegance, junior Ashton Yim warms up before starting his daily wushu practice. Warming up prepared Yim’s body before his real training began. “You have to think about it as a transitioning phase,” Yim said. “Before warming up, our joints, muscles, and mind are cold which can lead to injuries. Warming up helps the athletes to get prepared for big ranged movements. For my sport, this is especially necessary. Warming up would prevent me from dislocating, tearing, or fracturing bones, muscles, and joints. One small mistake and it could cost you your career. No muscle or joint can adjust into a heavily dynamic movement after you’ve sat down for seven hours of schooling.”

Posing for a photo at last year’s Fall Rally South, Key Club members captured their excitement while at Six Flags Magic Mountain. This year, they are prepared to go once again and strengthen the bonds within the club. “The very first time I went, the first ride we went on we decided to go on it as our starter because it didn’t look that scary,” President Ella Abilar said. “It ended up being like the most terrifying ride in the park, it was really scary and freaked us out. Since then, it’s been a tradition to make that the first ride we go on every single time we go.”
Key Club to embark on day trip to Six Flags
Following the destruction of the Tropicana Hotel, The Mirage closes to prepare for major reconstruction. The city plans to build a baseball stadium and Hard Rock hotel in their wake. “We honestly already have a lot of stadiums nearby,” Environmental Science teacher Martha Horner said. “You have the T-mobile Arena, you have the Raiders stadium, and you have The Sphere close by as well. So there's already a lot of things right there on The Strip, and I could see a new sports stadium being another traffic issue.”
