Q&A: What part of homecoming are you most excited for?

“I’m most excited for the [Homecoming] Spirit Week,” senior Jada Dejesus said. “I think it’s really fun to dress up … especially as a senior. I plan on going all out every spirit week this year.”

Posing for a photo, sophomore Gabreen Tabernilla is dressed up for Trunk or Treat in matching costumes with her friends last year. Families and students were allowed to dress up when attending the event as long as they followed CCSD dress code policies. “I’m mostly looking forward to making new memories with my recent friends I’ve made,” Tabernilla said. “I enjoy the separation from education. It connects us, gives us a break and an opportunity to have fun with costumes and candy, also hanging out with friends and family outside of school.”

Members of Key Club were granted service hours for participating in the activity. “We were given supplies like markers and pencils to decorate our cards,” White said. “It was a fun way of being creative and working on something to show our support for our teachers.”

“I hung out with my family and loved ones, eating really, really good food," junior Mia Musemici said. "I had the best mac and cheese ever. I had brisket and pulled pork, turkey, loaded mashed potatoes and some good pie for dessert. Me and my family stayed in, but I also went to my boyfriend's house for his family's Thanksgiving. It was amazing. We played some family games, doing some holiday traditions.”

"I'm watching it with my sister," sophomore Marleena Tabayan said. "I've never seen the Broadway version, but I grew up with the soundtrack. I have memories of her singing it out randomly so I love that we're watching it together."

“Respectfully, I forgot the Grammys existed, but I believe that Charli XCX and Sabrina Carpenter got that in the bag. They have some big moments behind them.” senior Anagell Johnson said. “I personally haven’t listened to Brat, but I know of it, like everything is lime green on Instagram and there’s even a dress to impress update just for it, if I had to choose between them it would probably be Charli XCX.”
