“My favorite thing in the world are buttons,” Rachel Zenkell (‘26) said. “Buttons are so cute and cool. They look nice on shirts, they look nice on hair clips, they look nice on hats, pants, and even bags. Buttons are nice because they’re interesting. They come in different shapes, sizes and colors. Some buttons have patterns and some are plain, some have an image of a strawberry. Buttons are cool.“

“On weekends, I personally enjoy exploring my hobbies,” Gabreen Tabernilla (‘28) said. “This includes playing the guitar, volleyball, sketching, reading the Bible, and so much more. “As I enter my final year here at Southwest, I am most looking forward to experiencing my last of every single event on campus,” Tyler Moran (‘26) said. “From the Back to School Assembly, Movie Night, Homecoming, Prom, and so much more, each tradition holds a special place in my heart. Every year, I’ve watched these events grow tremendously and become better than the last. Being a member of Student Council has given me the privilege of contributing to that growth and creating memories not just for myself, but for the entire student body. I am eager to see how the year unfolds. I hope to leave behind a legacy of spirit, involvement, and pride in our school that future classes can continue to build upon.“

“I’ve been picking up art again as a hobby. I love it in all of its medias! Music, literature, paintings, films— I think it’s the most beautiful way to express and interpret things,” Quynh Nhu Nguyen (‘26) said. “I don’t have a routine anymore, but seeing art as a way to wind down and communicate has helped me a lot.”

“My favorite extracurricular that I’m currently doing is probably volunteering,” Kaitlyn Graves (‘26) said. “I volunteer at the library every week, and we always do something different. Right now, we’re working on a display for the teen area that’s going to be put up around summertime, and it’s based on a certain country [with] a bunch of fun facts and everything so people can learn about different places.”

“My favorite exotic animal is a capybara because they’re the type of animals to get along with anything or anyone else and [they are] very social which is what I like about them,” Natalia Svikruhova (‘27) said. “Even though I would love to have one as a pet, they seem to be high maintenance.”
