The last week in sports has been a very interesting one. Championships are winding down as other ones are just warming up, so let’s dive right in!
LOCAL SPORTS:
The Las Vegas Golden Knights played another three games last week against the Edmonton Oilers, the Seattle Kraken, and the Carolina Hurricanes. The only win they took was 4-2 against the Oilers. The other two games were losses, 3-4 against the Kraken, and 5-2 against the Hurricanes.
The Las Vegas Raiders’ last game was two weeks ago on the 3rd of November, against the Cincinnati Bengals. It was yet another devastating loss for our home team, losing 41-24.
NFL:
The Detroit Lions in their “comeback” season have taken a strong hold of their NFC North division, going 8-1 in wins and losses after their last game on Sunday. Detroit took a close 26-23 win against the Houston Texans. After the Lions went scoreless in the first quarter, they dominated the game from the second quarter being the only scorers in the third and fourth quarters.
MOTORSPORTS:
Joey Logano won the NASCAR Cup Series championship on Sunday after taking a win at the finale in Phoenix. Logano won the series despite being 14th in the overall points standings before the playoffs while other Championship-4 drivers, William Byron, Tyler Reddick, and Ryan Blaney were all confined to at least the top five.
Tuesday it was announced that the BWT Alpine F1 Team would become a customer team in 2025, using both Mercedes engines and gearboxes. Alpine announced that they would be closing down their F1 engine program last September, which led to protests from many team members at the Italian GP.
