Skills USA, 1st and 3rd Tuesdays
Advisor: Ms. Cuni
Room: Ballroom
Members will be preparing for their upcoming State competition on April 9-12.
“For state, members are going to be competing in a certain leadership or workplace skill,” president Stacy Blum said. “Personally, I’m competing in 3D animation, but members are competing in a variety of other skills like restaurant service or medical math.”
In addition to preparing their chosen skill, members also need to work on their PDP testing.
“Before the first day of state, members will be taking their PDP test which is forty percent of their overall score for the competition,” Blum said. “The board will be giving out topics that pertain to the topics related to the test, which are fairly similar to the ones juniors are learning for the Workplace Readiness test. Afterwards, it’s up to the members to study these topics in order to pass.”
NHS, 1st and 3rd Wednesdays
Advisor: Ms. Penrod
Room: Cafeteria
Members will be playing board games.
“With the heaviness that surrounds the second semester, especially for juniors such as myself, the NHS board members have decided that our members deserve time to unwind,” president Julea Hofilena said. “We plan to ask a few teachers to borrow some board games before Wednesday.”
Parts of the board are beginning to prepare for upcoming member inductions on March 8.
“They have to organize what desserts are going to be served, set up the program and make sure everyone’s name is on it, and prepare their speeches,” Holfilena said. “Not every board member speaks, but a good amount do. NHS has four pillars, and certain board members are given one to speak about at the induction ceremony.”
Drama Club, 2nd and 4th Thursdays
Advisor: Ms. De La Fuente
Room: C124
President Zoey Ching plans to host auditions for the drama club’s upcoming performance.
“Auditions will vary depending on how many people want a role,” Ching said. “I have my board to help judge who will be best for the role.”
The board hopes to have everything go to plan and perform before the end of the school year.
“Hopefully, it’ll impact the school and provide more exposure for the drama club,” Ching said. “Our haunted house helped us get out there in the school community, and we hope to gain even more attention from this.”
