Five tips to sleep better By: Monserrat Mendieta

Sleep is regarded as one of the most essential components of health. Not sleeping enough can result in weight gain, poor brain function, and other negative effects. Here are five tips that will help your body fall asleep and recharge.

1. TAKE A soothing BATH or shower

The sensation of hot water can relax the body and cause a feeling of calmness which will make it easier to fall asleep at night. Even soaking one's feet can also cause sleepiness.

2. TAKE LESS NAPS

Napping can be very helpful as it promotes relaxation, less fatigue, and a better mood. However, long and irregular naps can result in insomnia or poor sleep quality. In order to have a good night's sleep, it is best to take short naps or none at all.

3.make a sleep schedule

Having a set time for going to sleep and waking up is one of the best ways to set the body's internal clock. Over time, you will have an easier time falling asleep at specific times because your body has grown accustomed to it. This will result in improved sleep quality.

4.Don't use devices right before bed

While it is tempting to scroll on your phone right before bed, doing so can actually prevent you from falling asleep. Devices emit a blue light that causes less melatonin, a hormone that causes sleepiness, to be secreted. This means that it will take longer to fall asleep as the body will feel alert instead of tired.

5.EXERCISE

Not only does exercise lead to better mood, increased self-esteem, and physical fitness, but it can also improve the quality of one's sleep. Basically, exercise tires the body out as it has to use more energy, therefore, you will feel more sleepy at bedtime. After all, exercise is a great remedy for insomnia.
