Southwest Career and Technical Academy has begun planning a school and community event called “Coyotes U-Night.” This event will take place on May 20, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM and is free to attend.
“Coyotes U-Night is a way to bring together the students and the community for a fun time,” said Mrs. Gia Moore, Community Partnership Coordinator.
The goal of this event is to promote community service, healthy living, and environmental awareness, as well as to raise money for local charities such as Shade Tree, RePurpose America, and Los Vaqueros.
This is also an opportunity for the community, including incoming freshmen, to visit our school, learn about the different opportunities that we offer, and meet the current student body as well.
“Every booth and event planned are based on an organization,” said junior Judy Jauregui.
Some of the activities that will occur are performances of different numbers from “Grease” by Glee Club, face painting by student council, art sales by Art Club, guitar performances by entertainment engineering students, demonstrations by the video game and web science programs, and more.
“There are a lot of good ideas that are both entertaining and beneficial to the community,” said Jauregui.
