On June 9th 2011, the last day of the 2010-2011 school year, a generous donation was presented to Southwest Career and Technical Academy’s DECA chapter. Sophomore Parker Wojciechowski’s grandmother, Mrs. Arolyn Rohac, gave the donation “in loving memory of Eleanor Kerkorian,” Wojciechowski’s great grandmother.
“I am so grateful for my grandma’s support of DECA. Her donation is extremely appreciated by not only me, but my advisors and fellow members as well,” said Wojciechowski.
The donation will assist DECA members who qualify at the state competition, to compete at the International Career and Development Conference, DECA’s international competition in to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, in the Spring of 2012. Kerkorian strongly believed in education, and the family is hoping this will assist a student who may not be able to attend the competition, due to financial hardship.
“Mrs.Rohac is our community superstar. Her passionate support and generous contributions to SWCTA and DECA provide valuable resources and inspiration to our staff and students,” said Mr. Perry Annett, DECA advisor.
To show appreciation for her support, DECA will honor Mrs. Kerkorian with a Memorium DECA Membership Award at the Officer Instillation and Membership Luncheon on October 10th, 2011. Kerkorian’s daughter will be accepting the award in her remembrance.
