The Student Council (StuCo) has decided to rebrand the traditional freshmen Thursday event into a “Freshmen Hearts Festival” for February to embrace Valentine’s Day.
The event will be held on February 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the gym. It will include various Valentine-themed games and activities for the freshmen to enjoy, as well as food and snacks to purchase.
“The date didn’t [work] out with the one that we picked,” Freshman Class Co-President Aibreen Luke Tulio-Quiambao said. “Since we needed more time to finalize the event and make sure it was thoroughly planned out, we decided to make it on Wednesday and change it to a different event revolving around Valentine’s Day.”
With the additional time acquired, the Student Council was able to implement more of their ideas for the event.
“You can expect multiple activities and some things to buy to remember your time there,” Freshman Class President Gavin Shields said. “I’m excited to see the different ideas that we had come to life and see how Valentine’s Day-themed it is.”
StuCo has created games and activities to help the freshman class form bonds with their peers.
“It’s a good way to come together as a community and make these four years here memorable,” Tulio-Quiambao said. “You can also expect a ‘big prize’ for those who all participate in all the games there and win.”
The StuCo advisers are excited to see the results of the work put in by the freshman class.
“We’re very fortunate this year to have a bunch of dedicated class advisors who work hand in hand with their classes because this is a class event and not a student council event,” Co-Adviser Brandon Lafountain said.
