Teaching Regional Training Conference cheers, Key Club board members Vassily Tan and Jaydee Punzalan display their spirit. Board members have been preparing cheers since before the school year started in hopes of victory. “These cheers are very special to us, specifically our Vice President of Spirit, because we worked all throughout the summer to make sure we were ready come RTC,” Punzalan said, “The process helped me grow closer with both the board and other members so I’m thankful for the opportunity.”

After their recent win at RTC, Key Club is attending Fall Rally South at Six Flags Magic Mountain on Nov. 12. Across the Cal-Nev-Ha district, this FRS is known as a ‘comeback year’. Fall Rally gathers members from different regions to support the Pediatric Trauma Program, meet people with similar interests, and show off Key Club spirit.

“When you compare the FRS that we are going to have this year to last year’s which was held at Opportunity Village, one of the big things you notice is that there’s going to be a lot more people and it’s going to be a lot more fun,” Sergeant at Arms Vassily Tan said. “It’s definitely going to seem more structured and traditional, which is one of the best parts about it because it feels like we’re finally returning to what Key Club is.”

As CNH has such a large number of members, the Fall Rally events are divided into Fall Rally North and Fall Rally South.

“Although it may not seem like it, Southwest CTA’s going to be the biggest group from our division at FRS,” senior representative Cameron Narciso said. “You had to attend RTC first before FRS, so I’m a little surprised there were so many people going.”

To prepare for the upcoming FRS event, Key Club has been composing cheers and creating spirit gear.

”I’m pretty confident in our members because they’re so spirited and they seem to really enjoy our club,” Narciso said. “They got our RTC cheers down really fast, so I have complete faith they can do it for FRS too.”

With 30 members attending, the club feels prepared, but some are concerned about the day of the event.

“I am worried about keeping everyone together because there’s going to be a lot of people from different divisions and regions in attendance,” junior representative Jaydee Punzalan said. “I am hoping things will go smoothly and we won’t run into any problems while we’re over there.”

Due to health restrictions set in place during previous occasions, members from all grades have been looking forward to experiencing the event for the first time.

“I think a lot of people are going to have fun with the event and really enjoy it, especially because it’s at Six Flags and we get to go on all the rides,” Tan said. “I’m most excited about spending time with people I enjoy being around and overall having a good time there.”
