The last month in sports has been action-packed in every sense of the word, so let’s take a look back.
Preparing to squat during a competition, sophomore Larry Fulgencio readies to lift a record-breaking squat. He got first place in weight class and age division. “This was one of my most challenging yet rewarding moments I have been lucky enough to accomplish,” Fulgencio said. “It will always be in my memories.”

Receiving real-time feedback and suggestions for improvement, junior Li Lei uses DeepSeek. Lei has used DeepSeek a couple of times before. “There are so many different AI apps nowadays that it's so difficult to keep up with them,” Lei said. “If I was being honest, DeepSeek has helped me with finding synonyms for words or transitions for different stuff.”

Alongside raising security concerns, DeepSeek is put at risk of a potential ban after its groundbreaking release.
Speaking about the  organization, “Pre-dental Society” at UNLV, college senior Lilian Dinh discusses the organizations mission and purpose. She had been apart of the organization for a few years now. “My goal is to help future dental students get the exposure they need,” Dinh said. “This will help them as they proceed further in their career.”

Looking at the position on the board, freshmen Christian Sumaway and Robert Romero thinks about their next move. Both students are regular attendees of chess club. “Being able to go to chess club right after school and playing for an hour or two is always a good use of my time,” Romero said. “Everyone at chess club is very high level so it makes me feel inspired to try and reach them.”

The game was between the Desert Oasis Diamondbacks and the Faith Lutheran Crusaders. “My family supports me playing basketball,” Atkins-Dowd said. “My dad is a basketball coach, and he, my mom, and my oldest sister, Nadia, always show up to my games. Through her love and dedication to the game of basketball, Alyssa Atkins-Dowd hopes to one day become a professional player for the WNBA.

The two had competed in the competition “Flavors For Life,” where high schools compete against each other to make a dish from a mystery basket of ingredients. “It was very fun,” Hadobas said. “I felt quite proud to win!”

Spinning her cup with the string length longer than before, senior CJ Estrellas laughs while trying to keep a hold of the cups rotation. By increasing the string length, the tension is increased as well as the risk of the cup’s water falling out.  “We have all these components and it’s really important [to get them right] because it can risk people lives,” Estrellas said. “They can risk your own life. Its like preventing risk factors, and that’s why applying it [physics] to real life is a real eye opener because I really saw what was going to happen if I make a mistake or don’t understand principles and calculations behind it [our project].”

Writing calculus equations on the board, junior Michael Haley easily swifts by the questions with ease. “At the beginning of this year, I was doubting if I could do it,” Haley said. “It was mainly because of this physics class I was taking, I felt like I wasn’t understanding it, and then I wasn’t doing too well on some of the tests. But then I quickly picked it back up and started having momentum again.”
