Janitor Darryl Bryant poses beside his rare 1964 TR4 in 1984. It was the first car he ever owned and considered a classic car at the time, and even more so now. “I’ve always been with cars,” Byrant said. “Back in my day when you were fifteen you had a drivers license. My parents bought me a 1964 TR4, it was broken, it didn’t have an engine, and I rebuilt it myself, that’s how I got into it. I’ve always loved cars, engines, things that go fast, in a straight line, 400 mph in about 2 seconds.”

Placing coffee filters over their contraption, junior Dominic Jackson is using the filter to eliminate the larger particles in the water. Their goal is to win the class competition of who has the cleanest water. “I feel like my group and I did very well at filtering out our water to make it cleaner,” Jackson said. “The only thing is our water was still oily, but I think the coffee filters helped us to get the larger pieces out of our water. Even though my group did not win I think we still did well.”

Consuming artificial dyes is now an essential part of the American diet as nearly all mass-produced commodities with unnatural hues are colored with these dyes. They come in all different colors and are made from synthetic acids that are combined to make sodium and calcium salts. “It may be an additive in some products we’ve used,” Foods teacher Chef Bakke said. “It’s in the red food dyes we use to color our buttercream for our cake lab.”

School stressors cause many students to use coping mechanisms in order to overcome the pressure; one of those outlets is retail therapy. Subsequently, students spend more money in relation to the amount of stress they have experienced, all while failing to account for their costly spending. “When they [friends] buy things they just get things that catch their eye with no specific reason for why they want to buy it,” sophomore Sapphyre Leung said. “It’s really just a way to waste money instead of being a good way to channel your stress.”

Rotating to each station of the gallery walk, junior Noah Ly answers each group’s essential question on a sticky note and places it on the different posters. Each rotation allowed time for group discussion and note-taking. “The class learned to tell the difference between asepsis types, and my group’s focus was teaching others about surgical asepsis and how to keep a clean environment when it comes to bacteria and organisms,” Ly said.

Posing together for a picture in front of their childhood home. The Evarts triplets share a lot more than just their identical features. “Growing up we had to share a lot of stuff,” freshman Emily Evarts said. “and even now I borrow some of my brother’s clothes, and they borrow some of my drawing or art supplies. But that is the nice thing about being a triplet.”
