SwimmIng Lifehacks Created By: Hannah Paine

Whether you are a competitive swimmer, scuba-diver or just like hanging around in the pool, these three hacks will make your life in the water easier. As someone who has been swimming for five years, I have discovered my own collection of hacks that have helped me deal with everything from practices to state meets.

antI-fog goggles

By creating a layer of saliva on the inside lens of your goggles and rinsing it out, it can prevent fogging. I found this hack to be somewhat disgusting and embarrassing to do in public, but after many of my friends have told me how useful this hack is, I had to try it myself. After attempting this at practice, I have found that it worked fairly well, but I've never had that much of an issue with goggles fogging in the first place. However, I will definitely try to do this when at future swim meets.

protecting your feet in fins

I have been using this hack for a very long time and it is very simple to do. When swimming long distances or scuba diving, developing blisters and feet chafing is a universal issue, but any pair of socks can fix the problem. Personally, I have a pair of ordinary socks in my gear bag to use at practice and I have found it is the easiest way to prevent blisters/chafing, stop foot cramps and my fins from slipping.

getting swim meet marker off

For competitive swimmers like myself, it is common for us to write on our arms with Sharpie. It helps us keep track of our events during the weekend, but it usually doesn't come off by school on Monday. This hack was very easy and it did successfully get the Sharpie off, but it also spread and bled around most of my forearm. It also made my arm smell like sunscreen for the rest of the day, but besides that, I do think that I'll use this hack at every future swim meet.
