This year, the Southwest Shadow celebrates 15 graduating seniors who devoted a portion of their high school journey to our publication. Join us as we reflect on how our time in the C122 newsroom transformed us, and how the lessons we learned will carry on into our future pursuits.
Hi everyone, I’m Adrienne, and I am so honored to have served as the Southwest Shadow’s editor-in-chief this past year! Working in the C122 Journalism program has, by far, been the most fulfilling and rewarding experience of my life. I remember walking into the Journalism Foundations class as an anxious freshman who was terrified to even pull someone out for an interview; today, I’m emerging as a confident and assured human ready to take on the world, and that’s all because of my time in this program. The work that I’ve done here, as well as the work that I’ve seen from all of the amazing writers on the publication, has pushed me to continue writing far into my own future. After graduation, I’ll be going over to the Big Apple to study English at Barnard College, but to me, the C122 newsroom will always be home. All the friendships that I’ve made in the class, all the late nights spent editing articles or writing longforms, will forever be precious to me. Before I go, I’d like to say one last thank you to all the amazing people in the Southwest Shadow, the great Mr. LaPorte and to everyone who’s ever read or shared a piece of my writing. Thank you for making my high school experience unforgettable.
