Celebrating Earth Week and Earth Day, Environmental Club is hosting a scavenger hunt today. The event is taking place within the quad, with groups and individuals searching for prizes. “Last year, we came up with the idea of a scavenger hunt because the Environmental 101 teacher made digital escape rooms for her students in her class. The hidden caches we have are stickers, bracelets, stamps, and little trinkets that revolve around Earth Day in the shape of trees,” Ruiz said.

My mind was going to so many different places, but I mainly put my focus on this, just preparing for it. I had to put 100% into it.”

Standing in line during lunch, juniors and seniors wait to buy their prom ticket. Tickets were sold at the banker’s window, with Student Council members positioned nearby to exchange receipts for physical tickets. “I was there for the first day that we were selling tickets so I’ve seen the line get somewhat long, but the system of them getting their receipt from the banker then going to us for their ticket was a simple process. It’s been going pretty fast and really efficiently,” StuCo member Mya Brown said.

The rapid advancement of AI technologies has made its way into classrooms, leading to the gradual implementation of AI bots, programs, and games into learning environments. A 2023 survey conducted by Forbes advisor revealed that in the United States, 60% of teachers have already started integrating artificial intelligence into their classrooms to streamline daily responsibilities. “I think that it’s an amazing tool that can be used in so many different ways,” computer science teacher Ronald Barranco said. “I already see how it impacts the classroom, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds.”

It took hard word and dedication, and the fact everyone earned a silver or gold medal is something to be very proud of.”

Increasing issues with carbon emissions have students worried about the future of the Earth. An article written by the NCEI predicts that there’s a 22 percent chance that 2024 will be the hottest year, and there is a 99 percent chance that it will rank in the top five of the hottest years. “Where I live there’s a whole area where people just dump their trash, and who knows, in 10 to 30 years it might get so bad that we’ll just see trash everywhere,” sophomore Eliza Pangilinan said. “Even that small piece of trash went through a factory, and those factories produce a lot of gas [emissions].”
