Due to a lack of volunteers to chaperone BSU and STUCO’s Winter Fest, the event is until after the Winter Break.
Originally planned to take place this Friday, Dec. 1 from 2-5 p.m., Winter Fest was to be held in the gym and cafeteria, with food, games and movies to kick off the holiday season. The event is now expected to take place in early January.
“I feel really disappointed, because we already had everything ready for the event. It was just a few things that held us back, but the chaperones were the biggest issue,” BSU historian Rediate Hunde said. “We’re trying to make Winter Fest happen during the first week after everyone gets back from winter break now, but we’re still waiting for confirmation.”
In light of this setback, STUCO and BSU will continue to prepare for Winter Fest while making improvements to their planning to ensure that the event can be held as soon as possible.
“Right now BSU and STUCO are trying to communicate better about our preparations, and we’re working on confirming all of our chaperones for Winter Fest,” dance commission head Danica Ruiz said. “Everyone’s obviously bummed about it, but there was not a lot we could do about the chaperones. We’re trying our best with BSU to still hold the event.”
More updates will follow as this story unfolds.
