Health Occupations Students of America, 2nd and 4th Tuesdays
Adviser: Cynthia Wong
Room: Cafeteria
HOSA will be hosting a guest speaker from the UNLV Pre-Dental Society.
“We had a few of our Southwest alumni there in the dental program,” President William Deng said. “They were HOSA officers at the time, and we’d like to see them again. They were coming back to explain a little bit more about the dental program there [UNLV] and some tips for going into college.”
They will also be holding a fundraiser.
“Since we’re having a competition at the State Leadership Conference, we will be fundraising for that as well,” Deng said. “For those members who are participating, they have the option to sell chocolate boxes, and it’ll cover up to 50% of their costs if they choose to sell four boxes. But that is solely up to them.”
Dungeons & Dragons Club, 1st and 3rd Wednesdays
Adviser: Levi Harbeson
Room: E126
The Dungeons and Dragons Club are planning to shift their game for the holiday season.
“We’re going to be doing our Christmas themed stories,” President Andrew Bennet said. “Instead of just running their normal campaigns where they’re fighting dungeons where they’re delving dungeons and fighting dragons, they’re going to be delving into Christmassy caves and taking over Santa Claus’ jump or something of the Christmas sort.”
Current campaigns will conclude during this meeting.
“Because it’s going to be the last meeting of the semester, it’s going to serve as a closure and finish off the story that they’re running,” Bennet said. “So it’s going to be a dramatic finish for all of our players to have a long, good lasting feeling that lasts all through Christmas break so that we can start fresh again in the new semester, instead of having an unfinished story.”
Volleyball Club, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Thursdays
Advisor: Corina Almodovar
Room: Gym
Volleyball club will discuss plans for an upcoming tournament in January.
“We’re trying to figure out what we want to do,” President Henry Lewis said. “Right now our plan is to have the team captains switching out whenever they’re off and referee the other matches. We also might have a prize at the end of the tournament for the winners.”
Board members will also be making plans for a fundraiser to help the club raise money for more activities.
“We were planning on doing something like a fun run,” Lewis said. “What we’re gonna do is have people get pledges from their friends and family and for every mile you run, instead of every lap they pay out a pledge.”
