Drama Club, Every Tuesday
Adviser: Maritza De La Fuente
Room: C124
Drama Club will start preparing for their new play, assigning roles and finding actors.
“The first step is finding a play that fits our size and the actors available, which is usually the hardest part,” club president Dylan Grove said. “Like last year, we decided on a play we thought reflected some part of the school or at least something students would be able to connect to or just enjoy.”
Once a play is decided on, members will begin rehearsing, creating sets and preparing for the performance.
“Luckily, things go smoothly once we get started,” Grove said. “We just need to get everyone prepared and ready for it. It’s exciting to see all the students contribute to making the production come to life.”
Competitive Gaming Club, Every Tuesday
Advisers: Monte Carman and Ronald Barranco
Room: C102
Competitive Gaming Club will plan out its strategy and prepare for upcoming matchups.
“We have our usual game on Tuesday, so I’m hoping that we can prepare for that,” team captain Connor Harris said. “Our team is going [through] some training this weekend by playing our games; most of us usually get one or two hours of gameplay each day.”
Club members will resume routine practice and adjust with feedback from coaches.
“One of the ways we’re preparing for the upcoming games is learning and getting feedback from each other,” Harris said. “We also get information about the team we will be playing and figure out how we should change our strategy to beat them.”
Creative Writing Club, Second and Fourth Tuesdays
Advisers: Corrina Terry and Amy Lutz
Room: C109
Creative Writing Club will delve deeper into themes in literature, specifically within poetry.
“The plan for the next meeting is to have members connect illustrations with writing,” club president Celeste Baumgartner said. “Our goal is for our members to be able to think about and focus on one central theme within figurative language.”
The club will also be planning future events and activities to develop its members’ skills, as well as support the club’s growth.
“We’ve been participating in school events like the Trunk or Treat and we’re also planning a fundraiser as well as a potential writing competition,” Baumgartner said. “All the funds from these things will go back into our members, like getting writing supplies, shirts, or something that unifies us all.”
