On Oct. 10-11, SWCTA’s junior and senior baking and pastry students will be competing in a baking contest. The event is based on the Food Network show, Cupcake Wars, where each team of SWCTA students must create a Halloween display, featuring one dozen Halloween-themed cupcakes.
“I was inspired by the food network show ‘Cupcake Wars.’ When I mentioned it to my classes, they were very excited. They will be able to use the skills we will be practicing and learning about in the next couple of weeks,” says Chef Linda Burns.
After students research and plan their design, as well as choose their recipes, they will bake their cupcakes and decorate them. Administration, teachers, and support staff are invited to judge on Oct. 12and 13 in the Coyote Ballroom, during second lunch. The winning team in each class will receive a “Coyote Cupcake Wars” trophy.
“I’m going to participate because it looks really fun. It’s fast paced, and you have to be on your toes to make the best cupcakes you can to win,” says Daniel Diaz, senior.
SWCTA students will be allowed to preview their friends’ cupcake displays the days of the event, in the Coyote Ballroom.
