Freshman officers, for the 2011-2012 school year were elected during the second annual Student Council summer retreat in August. They are now preparing for their first Coyote Congress meeting on October 7.
“They are great! The freshmen are eager, excited and make an amazing contribution to student council,” exclaims Mrs. Miriya Julian, Student Council adviser.
The freshman officers have several duties as part of their responsibilities. They must plan fundraisers, class slogans, and set traditions.
Freshman Class President Margaret Chang says, “My favorite thing about being the President, is coming up with ideas for fundraising. Also, I love that fact that I help unite the freshman together.”
Currently the freshman officers are learning the basics of the SWCTA Student Council. For example, how the different committees work, planning for the dances, and the process in which the spirit days are chosen. Many of these traditions they are learning as freshman officers will prepare them for their futures in student council.
