Key Club members will participate in the annual Fall Rally South at Six Flags Magic Mountain tomorrow.
“We went to RTC, the Regional Training Conference, and if you go to that you can go to FRS, which is Fall Rally South,” senior Brett Day said. “It’s the same thing [as RTC], but on a bigger scale. Our district, which is [Nevada], California, Hawaii, and Utah, goes to FRS and we [can] build connections.”
One segment of the event focuses on members showing their school spirit through a cheering competition between divisions.
President Ella Abilar said. “It’s a fun way to boost the moods of thousands of Key Club members, and in between cheers we auction off people to raise money for charity. Whoever wins the spirit competition wins the spirit stick.”
Students are excited for new experiences and opportunities that the rally will bring.
“It feels more exciting because meeting new people is a way for me to be more open and express myself more,” junior Ziying Chen said. “[I get to] show the real me that I don’t really show when I’m with some of my friends or at school. I’m looking forward to making more friends. I really want to be more open, get out of my bubble. I’m also excited for the rides, even though I am a bit scared of roller coasters.”
With about 15 board members and five regular members attending, the Six Flags trip is something students have been looking forward to.
“It’s a really good bonding experience, since we’re all together and just trying to run around the park,” Abilar said. “I want to create a bunch of new memories, and I want to be able to knock out every single ride this time. This is my last year of going and I go every single year. I’m really hoping to end it off on a good note.”
