The proficiency exams for non-proficient juniors and seniors will be held from October 31st through November 3rd. The completion of the reading, math, science and writing proficiency exams determine whether a student is able to graduate.
“These exams help test your knowledge and shows your strengths and weaknesses in all three subjects,” comments senior Jaishree Cabatu.
On Monday, students will take the reading exam, on Tuesday the math exam, Wednesday the writing exam, and Thursday the science exam.
“The proficiency exams help students prepare for major tests like the SAT’s, show you where you stand among your peers, and prepare you for the rest of your educational years,” states senior Eduard M.
In preparation for these tests, there will be a mock math exam for students on Saturday the 22nd from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The math department will also conduct senior tutoring on October 25th.
“The two most important parts of the proficiency exams are preparation and participation, says assistant principal Mr. Michael Butler.
If anyone has any questions regarding the proficiencies, you can see Ms. Paige DeSantis in the counselor’s office.
