The second Coyote Congress was held on Nov. 6, which covered new virtual fundraising ideas, advertisement opportunities and future spirit events.
“The student reconciliation committee is coming up with some virtual events that we could do in the winter,” PA Vice President Justine Belen said. “The Fri-yay committee is promoting and brainstorming more ideas for the next Fri-yay so that they can increase attendance.”
The meeting began with officers reviewing information from the previous meeting, including spirit weeks in October and Halloween based contests.
“We had two separate competitions, one for teachers and one for students,” Sumabat said. “The winner of the teachers’ costume contest was Mr. Castillo as Joe Exotic. Then the student costume contest winners are third place, Nathan Robles as an e-boy, second place Maddie Warher as a devil and first place winner Gabby Barber as a holy cow.”
Opening the floor to students after the officers’ reports, representatives from each program area and club discussed what they were currently doing.
“Regarding freshmen, we’ve started our CAD modeling with a new program that we usually don’t use at school, Onshape,” freshman Sahib Rattan said. “Since we have yet to use and learn Onshape I believe that is the focus for all of the other grade levels as well. It will be a new experience for all of us.”
During the “Student Voice” section, where students can present ideas or concerns, questions were submitted through Instagram prior to the meeting. Student Council encourages participation through social media, and they use it to make sure students are always up to date.
“We are now going to be posting rundowns of our meeting on a highlight on our student council Instagram account for anyone to access, just in case someone misses a meeting or wants to look over what we discussed,” senior student body President Michayla Sumabat said.
