The Student Council (StuCo) introduced a new activity for the Week of Respect by collecting appreciation notes from students and posting them on teachers’ doors as a surprise gesture of gratitude.
Over 100 student messages were collected through a school-wide form; StuCo members rewrote them onto notecards before placing them on classroom doors.
“Teachers deserve appreciation too, for all the hardships and everything they do for us,” Senior Class Historian Allyana Abao said. “I wanted to do something different from past years, something that would really bring students and teachers closer.”
The new project gave students a chance to reflect on the impact their teachers have had.
“I was actually hoping this could turn into a tradition,” Abao said. “Future students could build on it and make it even more effective.”
By giving students a chance to thank their teachers, StuCo hoped to remind students of the support they receive and help them feel more connected in class.
“We were really inspired by wanting to lift the spirits of the student body,” StuCo Treasurer Aldrich Razon said. “At the start of the school year, and especially with midterms coming up, a lot of students are stressed and less motivated.”
StuCo leaders said they hoped the notes would strengthen the connection between teachers and students.
“We wanted to create something that would help people mentally and give them a positive boost,” Razon said. “It’s always a treat to get a letter from someone.”
As this is the first year StuCo has organized the appreciation note project, members said they hope it will grow into a long-term tradition for future students to carry on.
“It’s such an easy way to make someone’s day,” Abao said. “I hope students and teachers both feel more connected as a community.”
