Raising money for charity, Studio K will be performing at the Las Vegas Dance Marathon at UNLV Student Union. Proceeds from the dance marathon will be donated to Pediatric and Neonatal Services at Dignity Health St. Rose Dominican Hospitals.
“I’m participating in dance marathon because it’s a fun way to get volunteer hours,” sophomore Aaliyah Lauder said. “I would also get to meet people with the same interests as me, as well as show off some of my talents.”
Studio K will have a jukebox concept performance showcasing the following songs: “Wow Thing” by Red Velvet’s Seulgi, GFRIEND’s SinB, Chungha, and (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon, “Love Scenario” by iKON, “Dally” by Hyolyn and “Ddudu Ddudu” by Blackpink. Members who are not performing in the group number will be able to sign up as general participants.
“Dance marathon is so much fun,” Web Design teacher Denise Snow said. “This is the first time [the club is] going to perform, but [the board members are] so organized. I’m sure they’ll do great.”
Last year, the group was made aware of the event too late to participate but were still allowed to attend the event and plan for the upcoming year.
“This being K-Pop’s first dance marathon, I hope we do really well,” sophomore Allyana Gorospe said. “I just want all of us to have a good time. I’m also excited to meet people who share the passion of dance and learn more from their experiences.”
The Las Vegas Dance Marathon events are organized by various high school students throughout the city. The dance marathon will take place in March and auditions for the performance will take place after Fall Break in C126.
“I’m really excited [for this performance] because dance marathon is a really good opportunity,” Yen Binh Tran “When we perform, the audience will be right in front of us, so the energy from the crowd is really close. It’s a really amazing and good feeling.”
