After three years of teaching at Southwest CTA, Web Design teacher and SkillsUSA adviser Denise Snow will be shifting over to the Nevada Learning Academy.

“The hardest part is leaving the students since I enjoy getting to know each student and assisting them in their educational journey,” Snow said. “I never want to let my students down and I know how hard change can be.”

Going on a different path, Snow is seeking new opportunities for herself where she will be able to use her coding and design skills to train other educators on technology.

“I am most excited that I now get to utilize my design and technology knowledge to assist teachers who in turn will be able to take that knowledge and share it with students,” Snow said. “In the long run, my technology knowledge will reach more students than if I remained in the classroom.”

Although this was a hard decision for Snow to make, she is excited about continuing teaching to a wider group of students and audiences. 

“I will miss the other teachers and especially all the C building teachers as well as SkillsUSA,” Snow said. “I will miss seeing all my students and helping through the challenges of the real world as well as bettering their knowledge.”

Former  English 12 and 12 Honors instructor Max Brewer, will be taking over for the rest of the year.

“I’m actually excited about teaching a new subject and challenge,” Brewer said. “Once I can really add my own spin to the class, I feel that the students will benefit from the class overall.” 

For Brewer, the most difficult part of transitioning to this new role will be having to think like a Web Design teacher rather than an English teacher.

“I’m really excited and interested in what I can do with new developments in technology,” Brewer said. “I also can’t wait to apply all of these new techniques and spread my knowledge to my web design classes and help them grow as people not only students.”
